Welcome to the Denton Sailfish Youth Summer Swim Team!
We are so excited you have chosen the Denton Sailfish as your summer swim team! We have so many exciting things going on this summer that we are thrilled to share with you.
We are a registered TAAF team that will swim for 8 weeks during the summer. Our registered name is Denton Area Swim Club and we swim under the City of Corinth code. This is simply due to the City of Denton already having an existing TAAF team. Many of our members reside outside of the Denton city limits, so our team is inclusive of all areas, hence the name Denton Area Swim Club.
We have 4 leveled teams, in which swimmers are placed according to ability level. This allows the coaches and swimmers to maximize our time in the water and swimmers to receive more attention swimming with athletes of like ability.
Our groups/teams are :
Blue- advanced
Yellow: intermediate
Green: lower intermediate
White: beginner
If your child begins on one team, that doesn’t necessarily mean they will stay there all summer. Progress is a good thing and advancement to a higher team will follow, if your schedules permit.
All practices will have 3 coaches on deck – one head coach and two assistant coaches.
Your summer fees are paying for: lane rentals, TAAF swimmer registration fees, meet fees and tshirts. If you choose to buy a team swim suit, that is a cost incurred by you, team suits are optional. Team caps are required during a meet so we can identify swimmers in the water. Caps and goggles are optional during practice although both make it much easier on the swimmer!
The summer swim fee is $160.00 for 8 weeks /5 days a week practice. This also includes your TAAF registration fee, meet fees ( except for state fees) and t-shirtand sales tax. In the past, swimmers who do not advance to the state level were finished swimming after the regional meet ( which was mid July) , but this year, ALL swimmers will swim up until the state meet which is August 6-8 in Waco, Texas. This means swimmers will have two more weeks of swimming this year!!!
