chocoflan cake recipe

ChocoFlan recipe -- it sounds complicated, but it really is not.

You will need to cook this cake in a "bano Maria" (Maria bath) so that the milk in the cake will cook. Take your turkey pan and put about an inch of water in it. Then take an angel food cake pan and place it in the water in the turkey pan. Spray the angel food cake pan with non-stick cooking spray and then squirt or pour caramel or cajeta (thick Mexican caramel) on the bottom of the angel food cake pan. The angel food cake pan must be a larger one (16 cup or 3.5 liter size) or else there won't be enough room for the cake and the flan. Also, I would not use a silcone pan because this is a very thick, heavy, and dense cake, and I am afraid it would not come out of the pan very easily.

Chocolate cake -- buy a box of chocolate cake mix and make the cake by following the instructions on the box (water, oil, and 3 eggs). Pour the chocolate cake batter into the angel food cake pan on top of the caramel.

Flan - in a blender, you will mix 8 oz. of cream cheese, 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk, 12 oz. can of evaporated milk, 4 eggs, and a little bit of vanilla extract.  Blend in a blender. Then pour the cream cheese and milk mixure into the chocolate cake batter.  Most of it will disappear and sink immediately into the chocolate cake batter. Some of the cream cheese and milk mixture will float on top of the cake batter. Don't worry. When the cake is done cooking, the flan will be on the bottom of the pan and the chocolate cake will be on the top. When you flip it out of the pan, the flan will be on top and the cake will be on the bottom.

Bake in the Bano Maria in the oven at 400 for about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Check for doneness by sticking a fork down in the cake. If it comes out clean, then it is ready. If not, then cook it a little longer. If it is not cooked long enough, the cake will be a mess (ie: liquid cake in a bowl)!   Let the cake cool in the pan for about a half an hour, then you can flip it out onto a serving dish. This cake is good hot or cold. You can garnish with chopped nuts or cherries if you want.
